About The Velvet Mat Underground: Most studios can copy classes, they cannot copy culture. The Velvet Mat Underground exists because movement deserves more than fluorescent lights, forced silence, and the pressure to perform. We created a space where yoga, music, atmosphere, and community come together...part yoga studio, part dance floor, part creative sanctuary beneath the streets of downtown St. Pete. Our classes range from energizing morning yoga rituals to midday movement breaks for busy downtown professionals, along with welcoming flows for every stage of life, including our vibrant 50+ community. If you’re here to sweat, stretch, breathe, dance, or simply reset, this is a place where you can show up exactly as you are. We believe yoga doesn’t have to be quiet to be sacred. Music matters. Energy matters. Community matters. Movement can be both powerful and playful, grounding and expressive.
