These roles are seeing twice the job growth and 42% faster salary growth than "democratized" roles, where AI simply makes the work easier for non-experts. Companies seeing the greatest returns use AI to amplify human expertise, PwC notes, and are outpacing those focused mainly on automation.

Current technologies could, in theory, automate activities accounting for about 57% of U.S. work hours, according to the McKinsey Global Institute.
