For me, exercise has always been means to an end. I played soccer growing up and then rugby when I got to college. I knew by the time I went off to college that I was fascinated by the adaptability of the human body. When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree, I began working in Physical therapy but was frustrated by how many injuries we treated that would have been preventable with exercise. I then decided to go back for a master’s degree in human Physiology. It was around this time that I found my passion for outdoor sports. I ended up doing my thesis on the physiology of rock climbing. I have been climbing and working with outdoor athletes ever since. I have found for both myself and my clients, having an external goal is helpful when following an exercise program. It allows us to find purpose and work towards what we love to do! My training philosophy is simple- train effectively for what YOU want to do. My programs are based on what will get you results with minimal time in the gym and leave you with energy for your out of gym pursuits (hiking, work demand, raising kids, etc.) I also focus on compound movements to build stability and coordination. This helps with injury and fall prevention as you age. When you train with me, you can expect to feel stronger, more balance, and less pain. Injury prevention and pain free performance are two of my specialties and critical for staying active.
