How To Become A Morning Workout Person

Prepare for your morning workout with these simple guidelines that will make early exercise easier. You’ll become a morning workout person in no time.

While many people love their morning workouts, others find it hard to exercise in the morning, whether it’s because of a busy schedule or because it’s simply hard to kick into gear first thing in the morning.

Wellhub has a few simple rules to follow if you want to get your heart rate up and your blood flowing first thing in the morning. Here’s how to become a morning workout person:

Don’t drag it out with your alarm clock

As tempting as it is to hit the snooze button in the morning, those extra minutes you’re getting probably aren’t full of good quality sleep. Plus, sleeping past your alarm could throw off your morning schedule. Try getting out of bed when your alarm goes off the first time so you won’t have to worry about not having enough time to work out in the morning.

Set out your workout clothes and everything else you need the night before

If you do your prep work the night before, you’ll set yourself up to tackle your morning workout with ease. Choose the workout you’re going to do, set out your gym clothes, and have a post-workout snack ready to eat once you’re done sweating it out. Your workout prep will pay off the next morning.

Make sure you’re fueling up properly

Exercising in the morning means you don’t have the meals you’ve eaten throughout the day to rely on for energy. As you begin to start your days with exercise, you’ll probably want to try a few different food options for fueling up and recovering. You may need a nourishing morning snack before you work out or you might prefer to have a larger meal after you cool down. Test it out and do what’s best for you.

Don’t forget to warm up

Just like any other workout, if you exercise in the morning, you’re going to have to start with a warm-up. Get your body ready in the morning with exercises like jumping jacks, squats, lunges, and arm circles. If your morning workout includes stretching exercises, it’s important to do them after you’re already warmed up to avoid any injuries.

Figure out what a good morning workout means to you

You probably won’t figure out your most effective morning workout process on day one. Try a few different options and learn what works for you. You might realize you love starting your day with yoga, or maybe you’ll learn a HIIT workout is better for you in the A.M. Listen to your body and design your morning workout routine based on that.
