Em has been teaching yoga for over 10 years and is hugely passionate about the human body, health and movement. She also has a degree in Physiotherapy, working full time in a private muscular-skeletal clinic, which takes her knowledge of the body even further. When graduating, she was awarded a first class honours from St George’s University of London, and she also won the Vice Chancellor’s Prize for most outstanding BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy student from her qualifying cohort. Though physiotherapy plays a large part of her work, her passion remains yoga: she loves the community and positivity that go hand in hand with yoga and hopes that you do too! In terms of style, Em is primarily trained in vinyasa and ashtanga, with a precise physical and functional approach to yoga. She pays close attention to detail, alignment and muscular engagement, and often includes influences from other movement disciplines and her work as a physiotherapist. Her classes usually feature an overarching theme from week to week, which can range from an area of the body, a functional-movement concept or progression towards a specific yoga pose. Her classes weave in philosophical concepts and mindfulness amidst movement, and her sequences are thoroughly planned out. Expect strong flows that challenge your strength and mobility, with a fun energetic vibe and encouraging atmosphere. And probably a fair amount of sweat. The group classes at based at Tooting Bec Lido Pavilion - a beautiful studio that overlooks the deep blue waters of the pool - probably the most unique studio in London! Em’s classes are accessible for all. Modifications offered throughout for those seeking to take it easy, as well as more advanced options for those that wish to go further.
