Wellhub joins the EMoCS project to promote physical activity in European companies
On Friday, June 21, EFCS – European Federation for Company Sport – and PACTE – Promoting Active Cities across Europe – joined together to holdEMoCS, a workshop with the aim of promoting physical activity within companies across Europe. Europe faces one of the most important challenges of recent years: physical inactivity, with more than 200 million people not currently partaking in any type of activity, which also suggests the huge increase in sedentary lifestyle across the continent.
EMoCS aims to change physical activity in corporate organisations
Scientific and political institutions have realised that this sedentary crisis is growing at an uncontrollable speed and given most people spend a majority of their waking hours at work, they know that the help of employers is key to changing the trend.
The European Meeting of Company Sport is a new project, supported and co-funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Erasmus+ program and the European Week of Sport, that aims to implement sport and physical activity within or around the workplace.
Part of the agenda was used to explore how to further develop the cooperation between companies and institutions at a local level, as well as to think about how to develop innovative solutions and cooperations to encourage physical activity inside the organisations.
On the day, plans were made for a common certification to easily identify all the companies committed to the safe implementation and promotion of physical activity at work.
